Independence is a laudable quality. But relying on your own resources after an injury can spell trouble. A deep cut left untended can cause more than just pain – it can also lead to difficult-to-treat infections. Even with some non-life-threatening injuries, time is of the essence. Here in Skagit County, PeaceHealth has a solution: the Sedro-Woolley Walk-In clinic.

Located just next to the PeaceHealth United General Medical Center, the walk-in clinic is easy to access – right off Highway 20. Here, patients enjoy short wait times and quality health care.

“We’re currently taking care of approximately 20-25 patients daily,” says Dennis Horner, ARNP. “PeaceHealth’s walk-in clinic is the only clinic like this in Sedro-Woolley, and the closest walk-in option for most communities east of Sedro-Woolley.”

PeaceHealth’s walk-in clinic is perfect for non-urgent illnesses and minor injuries like cuts, sinus and respiratory problems and even simple gynecological issues. “We typically see various upper respiratory infections, sore throats, earaches, rashes and UTIs,” Horner says. “We also see a fair amount of minor injuries, such as sprains, strains and simple lacerations.”

Horner began his career in the Air Force as an internal medicine staff nurse, followed by 10 years as a nurse practitioner. He knows the medical field well and is comfortable in a variety of situations. “We currently provide services such as lab work, x-rays, sports physicals, simple sutures, or other acute needs,” he says.

They have an excellent array of providers who treat patients with work-related injuries.

PeaceHealth’s walk-in clinic is clean and quiet. The staff is exceptionally friendly, genuinely helpful and you’re greeted warmly – an increasingly rare find in this age of endless patient processing. The exam rooms and labs are clean, comfortable and orderly, with a hint of modern minimalism in the décor. It’s refreshing to find such a patient-focused medical practice.
