Rich agricultural soil creates bountiful and flavorful harvests. Sometimes the products of those harvests stay local and are used to create something even better. If you enjoy a nice glass of wine, then a visit to the wineries in the Skagit Valley area are a must. These hard-working folks create delicious wines out of Pacific Northwest grapes. Here is a list of wineries in Skagit Valley.

2629 Old Highway 99 South, Mount Vernon

Pasek Cellars is a winery in Mount Vernon that specializes in fruit and dessert wines. Their most popular are their cranberry and blackberry wines. Their award-winning wines are also the official wine of the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival. If you like wine featuring Northwest grown fruit, or maybe something unique like Arabica coffee wine, you definitely don’t want to miss this vineyard. Pasek Cellars does have a line of Kosher wines as well. Kosher wines that are available in the U.S. include blackberry, blueberry, cranberry, raspberry, passion fruit and pineapple. Tulip Valley Winery

16163 State Route 536, Mount Vernon

If you like your wine paired with beautiful historic buildings, the Tulip Valley Winery in Mount Vernon should definitely be one of your stops. Here, taste their table wines right on the farm, in a 1920’s gothic-roofed dairy barn. Their wines are created from estate grown grapes. They also offer hard ciders made from local apples. During the Tulip Festival, you can visit them for helicopter rides, art shows and other vendors. Bring your picnic basket and spend the day on their lovely farm. Bertelsen Winery

Bertelsen Winery is lovingly cared for by a second generation Skagitonian, Steve Bertlesen, and his father Richard. All of their grapes are sourced from Washington State vineyards. They work toward crafting amazing wines at affordable prices. Bertelsen Winery has red, white and rose wines. Their tasting room is located on their winery in a gorgeous rustic building. Carpenter Creek Winery

Carpenter Creek Winery in Mount Vernon has been crafting wine since 2001 on their seven-acre farm, complete with Carpenter Creek winding by. Sample their wines, follow a garden path, have a picnic, enjoy music or even book them for a private event. It’s a relaxing place to just stop for a while. Love their wine? You can join their membership and receive limited production wines. They also sell gourmet local food products, wine accessories and more at their tasting room. They offer red, white and rose wines. Skagit Cellars

Skagit Cellars is a winery in La Conner that has national and international award-winning wines. All their wines are sourced from Chelan and Columbia Valley. They make a variety of reds and whites, with favorites being Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, Syrah, Merlot, Barbera, Cab Franc, and Cab Sauv.

Hellams Vineyard

Hellams Vineyard has a tasting room that is worth the visit just for aesthetics, including the impressive 25-foot hardwood bar. Of course, their wine is impressive as well, created with artisan craftmanship. Come for a visit and learn about what goes into making a fine wine while pairing samples with artisan deli foods. Most of their wines are created from their very-own grapes grown at their Sedro-Woolley vineyard. Skagit Crest Vineyard & Winery has a tasting room in La Conner that makes it a convenient stop for those exploring the fun downtown area. They do arrange private tours of their vineyard in Sedro-Woolley, so contact them ahead of your visit if that is something you are interested in doing. They craft red, white and rose wines. They do hold events throughout the year that make for a fun outing as well, so be sure to check for those when planning a trip! Glacier Peak Winery

Glacier Peak Winery in Rockport specializes in small lots of handcrafted wine. Sample their wines with local cheese, Acme ice cream by the pint, as well as olive oils and vinegars that are available to sample and purchase. They have a tasting room in Mount Vernon, so if you are in the area you can stop there, or you can head to their Rockport vineyard. The Mount Vernon tasting room is located at 13821 Best Road. Eagle Haven Winery

Since 2004, Eagle Haven Winery has been crafting artisan wines. Their tasting area includes a warm sitting room with a fireplace and an outdoor wine garden for when the weather is nice.
