Padilla Bay Shore Trail

Mount Vernon Riverwalk

Follow the path from Kincaid Street up to Lyons Park and back again. Northern State Recreation Area

Little Mountain Park

Located south of the Mount Vernon city limits, the 522 acres of Little Mountain Park offers a network of loop trails through lush forests of Douglas fir, cedar and alder, or drive up to the peak to picnic with stunning views of the valley below. The top is a 934-foot elevation gain where you can watch the valley come alive with vibrant foliage during the fall season. Don’t forget to walk out onto the lookout platform for a bird’s eye perspective.

The Cascade Trail

The Cascade Trail is a 22.5-mile-old railroad trail following the abandoned Burlington Northern grade connecting the towns of Sedro-Woolley and Concrete. Its winding, level path is ideal for strolls, runs, or an afternoon of biking. It can be accessed from three trailheads off of the North Cascades Highway. Find them in Sedro-Woolley, Lyman and Hamilton.

The trail follows the river, sometimes meandering along the highway but always with scenic views of farmland and foothills in sight, turning a fall walk into a magical experience.
