Berry-picking is among the great pleasures of summer in Skagit County. Whether you do it with family, friends or just yourself, hand-gathering fresh and local berries for great summer dishes and snacking can be a fun and satisfying experience. The following is a non-exhaustive list of confirmed Skagit County U-Pick berry sites, as of June 2025.

Beaver Marsh Blueberry Company

15447 Summers Drive, Mount Vernon

The farm that’s now home to Beaver Marsh Blueberry Company began over a century ago by Joseph Scharffenberg, but blueberries didn’t join the harvest party until 1991. The family-run farm now has more than 100,000 blueberry plants, and offers U-Pick berries beginning July 24. The first 50 opening day customers will receive free strawberry-blueberry shortcake, and all visitors receive complimentary cups of blueberry lemonade upon visiting the farm stand.

Picking runs every Thursday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $5 per person, with berries costing $3.50 per pound for those picking 50 pounds or less. Berries cost $3 for those intending to pick more than 50 pounds. Supply bags for picked berries are provided, but bringing your own containers is fine, too. U-Pick boxes can be purchased for transporting larger quantities.

In August, the farm will also feature U-Pick blackberries and boysenberries.

Blue Heron Farm

12179 State Route 530, Rockport

Open since 1979, Blue Heron’s organic raspberries and blueberries require U-Pick appointments and specific directions, as the berry fields are in two different locations along Martin Road.

Raspberries are generally available from early July to early August, with blueberries available from mid-July through mid-August. Wash stations are available in both berry fields, but visitors should bring their own containers to hold fruit. The farm takes cash, check and cards.

Bow Hill Blueberries

15628 Bow Hill Road, Bow

One of the region’s most popular organic blueberry farms offers picking of its plump Bluecrop berries from mid-July until the end of their harvest season, usually somewhere between the end of August and mid-September.

U-Pick times are on weekends only from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The farm supplies buckets for picking and freezer bags for taking berries home, and accepts cash, checks, all major credit cards and WIC/SFNP and SNAP funds. For adults younger than 65 and children older than 8, a “Grazing Pass” to their fields is just $5, with berries priced at $3.85 for each pound of picked berries.

Cascadian Farm Rodale Institute

55931 State Route 20, Rockport,

The Rodale Institute grows organic blueberries, strawberries and raspberries at its Pacific Northwest Organic Center, which is focused on regenerative agriculture. This summer, U-Pick blueberries and raspberries will be available during harvest season, each Friday through Sunday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Carpenter Creek Farm

20177 East Stackpole Road, Mount Vernon

This family-run blueberry farm, which is non-organic but avoids the use of synthetic pesticides or fertilizers, offers U-Pick opportunities during their farm’s open hours, which are usually 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each Thursday through Sunday. U-Pick harvests often conclude by the end of August, as they did in 2024. Small U-Pick boxes, which hold around five or more pounds of berries, cost $15, while large boxes hold upwards of 10 pounds and cost $25. Customers should bring their own containers for the actual picking process.
