In the Skagit Valley, spring is synonymous with tulips. A proud tradition that started with a two-day festival in 1984, the 2026 Tulip Festival is almost here! Skagit farmers, business owners and the whole community are excited to invite everyone to discover not just the beauty of the tulip, but the beauty of the county as well. While nature dictates when the main “show” arrives and how long it lasts, the Tulip Festival dates are April 1-20, 2026.  As the tulips are starting to emerge, now is the time to plan your trip! Due to seasonable warm weather, some gardens will be opening early! Check with the gardens for up-to-date information.

Of course, the main attraction at the Tulip Festival is the Skagit County farms! You will want to visit all four this year, as each has its own unique tulips and activities for visitors!

“There are four different farms that offer four unique tulip experiences,” shares Vanessa Harrington, communications and business director at Tulip Valley Farms. “I would encourage guests to take some time to research the different farms/gardens, restaurants, and other recreational opportunities in the area so they can get the most out of their time here in the Magic Skagit Valley.”

Tulip Town has six acres and plenty of tulips. Head to this farm Easter weekend for special activities, including a visit with the Easter Bunny and egg hunts on both April 4 and 5 at 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. for kids under 12. These hunts are free with admission. Adults get to have fun too, though! For just $15, adults can hunt eggs both days at 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. while enjoying a glass of bubbles, wine or beer.

Tulip Valley Farms is a 15-acre farm. For the 2026 Tulip Festival, they have 100 different tulips, 16 daffodil varieties and other flowers waiting to welcome spring with you! Its special activity is the night bloom, where they are open from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. so you can enjoy the tulip fields by moonlight. These special dates are Saturdays in April. Be sure to pick up a copy of their new children’s book, “The Colorblind Tulip Farmer.” They also have u-pick tulip fields, free tulip talks with Farmer Andrew three times a day and micro mini highland cattle!

“We do have a couple new ticketing options that give people early access and a private tour of the farm, as well as the limited opportunity to get in the pen with the cows,” shares Vanessa. “This is our fourth season and we’re very excited to offer a different kind of Tulip Festival experience to those looking for it. Because people crave transformative experiences and opportunities to learn about tulips, we designed Tulip Valley Farms that way.”

Roozengaarde is a 60-acre farm known for its mail-order flowers and bulbs, especially tulips! They will have fresh tulips for purchase and you can talk to them about reserving fall bulbs.

Garden Rosalyn is a six-acre farm with rows and rows of tulips. They also have artist-designed murals on the farm that are worth a look and a photo! A favorite photo-op here is a photo in front of the Windmill with tulips all around.

Purchase tickets now to each farm on the Tulip Festival website! You can also check the Bloom Updates page to see if the tulips are ready before heading out to the fields.

The Tulip Festival Street Fair is another favorite tradition of the Skagit Tulip Festival! You can meet local makers, artists, bakers and more! It’s also a great place to get festival information and festival-themed souvenirs, including posters, apparel and other merchandise.

Find even more events, places to stay and eat, a festival map, and other helpful information on the Tulip Festival website.

Plan early as hotels fill up during the month of April. Vanessa has a couple other tips for visitors. “One tip we always give is to come on a weekday when the traffic is less and the crowds are smaller,” she shares. “Although our parking lot can be packed and it still doesn’t feel crowded because of the layout of our field. Another tip is to always dress in layers! The flatlands can be 15 degrees colder than in town and it’s almost always windy; ponchos work better than umbrellas.”
